Moon appoints foreign minister amid opposition's protest

President Moon Jae-in (R) and newly appointed Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha (L) walk out of a meeting after he presented her with the appointment credentials at Cheong Wa Dae in Seoul on June 18, 2017. The president went ahead with her appointment despite threats of a boycott by opposition parties who refused to endorse Kang's nomination after a confirmation hearing. The appointment of a Cabinet minister does not require parliamentary approval. (Yonhap) (END)
