Festival featuring ancient scholar Wang In

People in traditional Korean clothing parade in Seoul's Myeongdong shopping area, one of the top tourist spots in the South Korean capital, on March 9, 2018, to promote a festival on ancient scholar Wang In that Yeongam municipality in southwestern South Korea will hold from April 5-8. Wang In, a pioneering scholar of the ancient kingdom of Baekje (16 B.C.-660 A.D), was dispatched to Japan to teach Confucianism, the Chinese writing system and architecture. Called Wani in Japan, he taught the Japanese royal family and became a forefather of Japanese culture in the Asuka period. (Yonhap) (END)
