Suspicion on N. Korean coal in S. Korea

Suspicion on N. Korean coal in S. Korea

Vice Foreign Minister Cho Hyun (R) speaks to Rep. Kim Sung-tae, floor leader of the Liberty Korea Party, at the latter's office at the National Assembly in Seoul on Aug. 9, 2018, amid reports of a shipment of North Korean coal docked at a South Korean port. The ministry said that an inspection of the ship determined the coal to be Russian. It also said there was "no confirmation of a violation of" the U.N. Security Council resolution. South Korea has also been looking into separate allegations that several foreign cargo ships loaded with North Korean coal docked at South Korean ports in violation of international sanctions against Pyongyang.
