The Millennium Stadium bid farewell to Ryan Giggs on Saturday as the Wales captain played his final game for his country.
Giggs announced earlier in the week that he would retire from international football following the Euro 2008 qualifier against the Czech Republic - the obvious wish from the home fans was for a dream send-off.
Having gone close with a 13th-minute free kick, Giggs would be grateful to young 'keeper Wayne Hennessey as he denied Arsenal's Tomas Rosicky at the other end.
Only a win would keep Wales' Euro 2008 hopes alive - that made Jason Koumas' 51st minute free kick, so nearly the perfect free kick, all the more frustrating for the Welsh.
The fairytale was very nearly realised as Giggs cut through the Czech defence mid-way through the second half.
Chelsea's Petr Cech was the man standing between the Manchester United star and a triumphant finish.
The game ended 0-0, the result was almost unnoticed as Giggs handed over the captain's arm ban to successor Craig Bellamy before walking into international retirement.
The 33-year-old played 64 times for his country in a 16-year international career - the world, however, never saw him at a major international tournament and now they won't be seeing Wales at Euro 2008.
