World champion bower, convicted drug seller - it's the remarkable story of Thailand's Siriporn Thaweesuk. Together with her WBC light flyweight belt, the 24-year-old was released from Bangkok's Pathum Thani prison on Wednesday three years before the end of her 10-year sentence. Siriporn's parole is seen as reward for becoming Thailand's first boxing world champion - having waved goodbye to fellow inmates, Siriporn, now a free woman, was able to express her gratitude. SOUNDBITE: (Thai) She says: "Thanks to those who supported a convict like me. Some may not agree but I don't care. I am happy that there are people willing to support me. I would like to thank all the officials as well" SUPER CAPTION: Siriporn Thaweesuk, WBC Women's Light Flyweight Champion. Siriporn became a celebrity in her country in April by defeating Japan's Ayaka Miyano to win the title. The pugilistic former prisoner will now continue to train on prison grounds ahead of the mandatory defence of her title in Bangkok next month.
