Australia's players are feeling the pressure to lift the Asian Cup at their first attempt. Hours after their squad arrived in Bangkok, where they will be based for the early part of the tournament, striker Brett Emerton and midfielder Mark Bresciano met with fans in a sports shop in the Thai capital on Thursday. 2007 will mark the 'Socceroos ' debut appearance in the Asian Cup since Australia moved from the Oceania federation and joined the Asian Football Confederation. It hasn't stopped them being installed as favourites, a tag that Bresciano admits he could do without. SOUNDBITE (English) "Coming off a successful World Cup, I think perhaps we're under a bit of pressure now because people are expecting us to do well but also we've got to remember we're coming up against some good teams and the conditions aren't going to help us." SUPERCAPTION: Mark Bresciano, Australia midfielder Teeratep Vinotai of hosts and Group A rivals Thailand also spoke at the question and answer session and suggested the Aussies are the team everyone wants to beat. SOUNDBITE (English) "We'll try our best to play really well in our group and we try to get through to the second round - and then we try to play our best against Australia." SUPERCAPTION: Teeratep Vinotai, Thailand Oman and Iraq make up Australia's opponents in the first phase. Thailand kick off the competition against the Iraqis at the Rajamangala Stadium on Saturday.
