  • Supporters and players alike were thrilled to see David Beckham train for the first time with the Los Angeles Galaxy squad on Monday. Some of the hundreds of fans gathered at the Home Depot Center, though, thought it a shame to see the 32 year-old England midfielder have to sit out much of the session because of a recent ankle injury. SOUNDBITE (English) "I'm a little disappointed, but he's hurt so what do you expect?" SUPERCAPTION: Jarrett Collins, David Beckham fan. SOUNDBITE (English) Bailey Bagheri: "We love David Beckham, who doesn't? He's awesome." Brittany Bagheri: "He's an awesome soccer player and he's pretty hot so it kinda works both ways." Bailey Bagheri: "He's probably one of the most famous athletes in the world right now and to have him play in one of the minor leagues of the world is like incredible to have him in Los Angeles, so we're really excited to come see him play." SUPERCAPTION: L.A. Galaxy supporters L.A. Galaxy defender Kyle Veris believes being with Beckham can only improve his performance. SOUNDBITE (English) "I just try to learn from him, try to pick up little things, you know I grew up watching him and really love watching him play. For me, it's just trying to learn from him and try and improve my game, while trying to help the team get better." SUPERCAPTION: Kyle Veris, L.A. Galaxy defender Fans are now eagerly awaiting the decision on whether Beckham will be fit enough to play his first match with the Galaxy this Saturday - against Chelsea.
