Looking to close the gap on group leaders Poland in Euro 2008 qualifying Group A, Portugal and Cristiano Ronaldo travelled to lowly Armenia on Wednesday. It would not go according to plan for the World Cup semi finalists in Yerevan as the Armenians took the fight to their visitors in the opening exchanges. Sure enough, the break came at the Republican Stadium after just 12 minutes with Robert Arzumanyan's header. After morale-boosting wins over Kazakhstan and pace-setters Poland back in June, more progress for the Armenians. Manchester United star Ronaldo took it on himself to restore Portugal's pride with a typically stunning piece of skill to make it 1-1. But Portugal's failure to force a winner means they now lie third in Group A, two points adrift of second-placed Finland who were 2-1 winners over Kazakhstan on Wednesday. Poland are a further two points clear at the top.
