  • Dick's Sporting Goods Park was sold out on Sunday as the Colorado Rapids hosted the Los Angeles Galaxy, but the west coast side were once again forced to field a side bereft of David Beckham. However the hosts put on a great show from their fans. In the 26th minute Mehdi Ballouchy played the ball forward to Jovan Kirovski who found Conor Casey with a delicate touch. Casey kept his cool, sidestepping goalkeeper Joe Cannon and defender Kyle Veris to score the first goal of the game and his first of the season. The Rapids doubled their advantage eight minutes later. Casey used his strength to chest down a pass, and keep possession before finding Terry Cooke wide on the right. Cooke sent a low cross into the box that ought to have been dealt with by the Galaxy defence, but Troy Robert's poor first touch left Colin Clark with an easy finish to make it 2-0 to Colorado. Another defensive error led to the decisive goal. Cooke's in-swinging corner ought to have been cleared by Cannon, but his badly judged punch fell invitingly to Mike Petke who made no mistake with the finish. The Galaxy were unable to get on the scoreboard, and will need absentees David Beckham and Landon Donovan to return in good health and in good form to improve their away record.
