  • Struggling Los Angeles Galaxy, once again without David Beckham, had home advantage against the Houston Dynamo on Sunday. LA had an early chance when Cobi Jones passed to Alan Gordon, but he was well challenged. Two minutes later Houston took the lead - Ryan Cochrane providing the final touch after a corner by Richard Mulrooney. It was Cochrane's first goal of the season. Another corner produced Galaxy's 26th-minute equaliser. Landon Donovan's cross reached Gordon, who thumped a header past Pat Onstad. The game's pivotal moment came seconds into the second half when LA's Mike Randolph was adjudged to gave fouled Brian Mullan in the box. Dwayne De Rosario scored from the penalty spot. Ricardo Clark sealed a 3-1 win for Houston in the 73rd minute following some hesitant defending by the hosts. The victory moved Dynamo above Chivas USA into first place in the western conference. Galaxy remain rooted to the foot of the table on 17 points.
