Goalkeeper Kevin Hartman and the Kansas City Wizards visited Chivas USA in the Western Conference semi-finals on Saturday looking to preserve their 1-0 lead from last week's first leg. Chivas applied pressure from the start, and Hartman had to react smartly after 25 minutes to keep out strikes from Ramon Nunez and Paulo Nagamura. Hartman excelled again just before the break, stopping Francisco Mendoza from close-range. The Wizards offered little in attack, but Brad Guzan got down well to save their first meaningful effort from Eddie Johnson. Chivas continued to dominate and they were unlucky not to go ahead midway through the second half. Mendoza robbed Kurt Morsink in midfield and he found Maykel Galindo who beat Hartman, but not the far post. John Cunliffe then saw his header come back off the crossbar in injury time. The Wizards, though, hung on for a 1-0 aggregate victory which puts them into next Saturday's Western Conference final against the Houston Dynamo.
