More than 30,000 were inside the Robertson Stadium in Texas as defending MLS Cup champions Houston Dynamo looked to overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit against FC Dallas in the Western Conference semi-finals. But the majority of the crowd were silenced in the 14th minute when Kenny Cooper headed into the path of Carlos Ruiz, who volleyed home superbly. With a 2-0 aggregate lead Dallas looked in charge, but they were reduced to ten men right after half-time when Arturo Alvarez was sent off for kneeing Brad Davis in the groin. Dynamo pressed and they were rewarded on 66 minutes. Brian Ching nodded down Ryan Cochrane's deep centre and there was Stuart Holden to fire home and halve the gap. Six minutes later, Dynamo squared the tie when Dwayne De Rosario picked out Ching and he swept the ball past Ray Burse. Now 2-2 on aggregate, the game went into extra time. But just four minutes into the first period, Ching struck again after some poor defending by Dallas. And five minutes later, Brad Davis put the cap on a superb Dynamo comeback with a spectacular free-kick for a 4-2 aggregate victory. Houston now face the Kansas City Wizards in the Western final on November 10th.
