(LEAD) (Asiad) S. Korea takes women's doubles gold in soft tennis
(ATTN: UPDATES with details from 4th para)
INCHEON, Oct. 2 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's Kim Ae-kyung and Joo Og captured soft tennis gold in the women's doubles at the Asian Games on Thursday with a win over their compatriots.
The Kim-Joo duo defeated Kim Ji-yeon and Yoon Soo-jung 5-1 in the all-South Korean gold medal match at Yeorumul Tennis Courts' Indoor Court 3.
Rainy conditions forced the players to compete indoors on Thursday.
This was South Korea's fourth gold medal from soft tennis and the first women's doubles title in 12 years.
For Kim Ae-kyung, it was her second gold at the Incheon Asiad after winning the mixed doubles event on Wednesday. She also had earned bronze in the women's singles earlier this week.
The Kim-Joo combination overwhelmed the Kim-Yoon duo, who paired off earlier this year.
They won the first three games as Kim and Yoon counterattacked in the fourth game to make it 4-1.
But Kim and Joo gained the next two games in a row to seal the victory.
