BUSAN, Oct. 25 (Yonhap) -- The Busan Metropolitan Government said Saturday it will kick off a health care exhibition Monday at the venue of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) meeting, which will invite some 50 local firms and hospitals to showcase the latest developments in the industry.

The three-day event will be held at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO), where some 3,000 delegates from 170 countries have gathered for the ITU's quadrennial meeting. The 19th ITU Plenipotentiary Conference, referred to as the PP-14, continues until Nov. 7.

Busan said the Seoul National University Bundang Hospital and the Pusan National University Hospital, and other medical-related companies will display various facilities, devices and mobile applications at the event.

The exhibition will also hold business meetings to allow local firms to tap overseas markets.

Other seminars will also be held over the cited period, discussing issues surrounding the convergence of ICT and health care.

The ITU is an information and communications arm of the United Nations that sets technological standards, allocates radio frequencies and satellite orbits, and works to improve the quality of communication services.
