GONGJU, South Korea, Dec. 20 (Yonhap) -- Six people suffered minor injuries in a suspected gas explosion Saturday at a residential building in central South Korea, police and fire officials said.

The blast occurred on the first floor of the three-story residence at around 8:50 a.m. in Gongju in South Chungcheong Province, about 162 kilometers south of Seoul, according to the officials.

The explosion left six people mildly injured by debris as well as damaged the building, but no serious injuries were reported.

Police and the fire authorities suspect that a liquefied petroleum gas tank was accidentally detonated in the building and said they will determine the exact cause of the explosion.
