SEOUL, May 26 (Yonhap) -- President Park Geun-hye appointed the head of a state-run think tank as vice minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, a South Korean official said Tuesday.

Kim Kyung-hwan, president of Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements, was named to the No. 2 post at the ministry, said presidential spokesman Min Kyung-wook.

Park also tapped Yoo Kyung-joon, a professor of Korea University of Technology and Education, to lead the Statistics Korea, the country's statistical office.
