BUSAN, July 29 (Yonhap) -- South Korea and China need to further develop bilateral ties based on "political trust," Beijing's top envoy to Seoul said Wednesday.

"For the development of China-South Korea relations, mutual political trust, working cooperation and human exchanges are of importance," Amb. Chu Guo Hong said at a forum held at Busan City Hall.

On China, he said, it has achieved steady growth over the past 30 years to become the world's second-largest economy.

"But China is still the world's top developing nation," he said, adding its economy is going through a fast paradigm shift.

The envoy held discussions on economic partnerships with Busan City officials and researchers.

Mayor Suh Byung-soo cited the need for a new route through the North's Rajin port and the South's Busan port to save on logistics costs in the northeastern Chinese provinces of Jilin and Heilongjiang.

The ambassador agreed to the view and said his embassy will actively support a related project.
