KEPCO's Q2 net profit jumps seven-fold on lower fuel costs

SEOUL, Aug. 5 (Yonhap) -- Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO), South Korea's state-run power company, said Wednesday its second-quarter net profit jumped seven-fold from a year earlier on the back of reduced fuel costs.
Net income reached 1.34 trillion won (US$1.12 billion) in the April-June period, up from 191.5 billion won a year ago, the company said in a regulatory filing.
Sales rose 6.1 percent on-year to 13.67 trillion won, and operating income surged 151.8 percent to 2.88 trillion won, the firm said.
