Amore, LG Household & Care to host K-beauty show in China
SEOUL, Sept. 1 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's two biggest cosmetics makers will jointly host a road show in China to feature their beauty products, hoping to tap deeper into the fast-growing market, the companies said Tuesday.
Amore Pacific Co. and LG Household & Care Co. plan to hold the "K-beauty Show" in Huangzhou on Wednesday and Nanjing on Saturday to present various cosmetics lineups.
It is the first time that the two industry leaders have joined forces to hold a beauty show abroad, they said.
China has emerged as a lucrative market for Korean cosmetics makers, which have sought ways to boost sales beyond the highly-competitive, saturated home turf.
The global interest in Korean cosmetics and make-up techniques, dubbed the K-beauty boom, has given a leg up to local companies, which have seen strong sales of products shown on Korean dramas and advertised by idol groups hugely popular in China.
China is the world's third-largest cosmetics market after the U.S. and Japan, according to Euromonitor International. A growing number of affordable consumers in the world's No. 2 economy are drawing attention from the key players in the high-end sector.
