Brawling cooking show to return with toned down episodes
SEOUL, Oct. 7 (Yonhap) -- A second season of South Korea's popular cooking show "Three Meals a Day" will depict more halcyon and people-centered stories on a remote island than its boisterous previous season, its producer said Wednesday.
The new version set to premiere Friday on local network tvN will have the same format: actors Cha Seung-won, Yoo Hae-jin and Son Ho-jun will stay on the island of Manje, South Jeolla Province, and cook anything for three meals a day.
The first season was a rare breed for cable channel programs, with its ratings soaring to 14.2 percent on average.
"I somewhat feel burdened by the unexpected success of the first season, but I've realized that watchers would just want to see how our neighbors lead an everyday life in such a calm, remote village, which is the core of this program," said producer Na Young-seok.
"Cha had boasted of his superb cooking throughout the first season, but he will go simpler in this season," he said. "Episodes Cha will make with Yoo just like an old couple will allow viewers to enjoy mundane but comfortable experiences."
