(LEAD) Orioles' Kim Hyun-soo records 1st double in three-hit game

SEOUL, May 1 (Yonhap) -- Kim Hyun-soo of the Baltimore Orioles picked up his first major league double as part of a three-hit game at home Saturday.

Batting ninth and playing left field, Kim went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored in the 8-7 loss to the Chicago White Sox at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Kim is batting .600 (9-for-15) in his first big league season.

The former Korean All-Star outfielder was making only his sixth appearance of the season.

Kim got his first career extra-base hit in his first at-bat in the bottom third, with the Orioles trailing 2-1.

Facing Mat Latos, Kim hit a sharp grounder past first baseman Jose Abreu and slid into second for the two-bagger.

With two outs in the bottom fourth, Kim hit an opposite-field single to left. Then in the sixth, facing new pitcher Zach Putnam, Kim had another single, this time to left-center, for his first three-hit game.

Kim grounded into a double play in the bottom eighth.

The White Sox rallied with three runs in the eighth and another in the ninth for the victory.

Earlier in the American League, Park Byung-ho of the Minnesota Twins blasted his team-leading sixth home run of the season at home against the Detroit Tigers.

Park hit a solo shot off Jordan Zimmermann in the bottom of the fourth at Target Field, cutting the Twins' deficit to 3-1.

Park, batting fifth and playing first base, provided the Twins' only run of the game, as they fell 4-1 for their third straight loss.

The two-time MVP in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) closed out his first full month in the majors batting .227/.288/.561 with six home runs, eight RBIs and four doubles.
