Yonhap News Television remains most viewed news channel in April
SEOUL, May 1 (Yonhap) -- The television news channel operated by Yonhap News Agency, South Korea's key news service, remained the most viewed cable TV news channel for the ninth consecutive month in April, industry data showed Sunday.
Yonhap News Television posted an average viewership of 0.852 percent last month, beating its competitor YTN and all other news channels here, according to the data from Nielson Korea.
The Yonhap News TV channel has remained the most viewed news channel since August 2015.
The channel's leadership was highlighted around the parliamentary elections when its viewership stayed well above 1 percent for two consecutive days for the April 13 elections, also marking the first time the channel's election broadcast posted a viewership of over 1 percent since the channel was launched in late 2011.
An early morning program on the outcome of the parliamentary elections, starting at 4:30 a.m. on April 14, posted an audience share of 31 percent, making Yonhap News TV the most watched channel among all cable TV channels over the cited time period.
"We believe the viewers continued to choose the channel over others for its news programs that offer balanced views," an Yonhap News TV official said. "We will continue to deliver news promptly and accurately to meet our viewers' needs."
