All News 22:53 July 29, 2016

SEOUL, July 29 (Yonhap) -- South Korean artistic gymnast Lee Go-im will not compete at the Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympics due to an arm injury, the national Olympic body said Friday.

The Korean Olympic Committee (KOC) said Lee injured her left humerus during a vault training session at the Athlete's Park 1 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Thursday (local time) and added that she will not be able to perform in the women's artistic gymnastics events that start Aug. 7.

The KOC said Lee will have medical tests, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computerized tomography (CT) scans, on Friday and will return to South Korea for surgery.

Lee is the only South Korean female artistic gymnast in Rio. She is also the youngest athlete in the South Korean delegation at the age of 15.

The KOC said the injured Lee will be replaced by Lee Eun-ju who finished second in the national team selection trials last month.
