Korean Air to put B787-9 on international route
SEOUL, May 31 (Yonhap) -- Korean Air Lines Co. said Wednesday it will put its B787-9 Dreamliner jet on an international route for the first time this week.
The U.S.-made aircraft will fly daily between Incheon and Toronto from Thursday onwards. It will then be deployed on the Incheon-Beijing and Incheon-Madrid routes from August, the airline said.
Korean Air currently has a B787-9 servicing the popular Seoul Gimpo and Jeju Island route.
The company, South Korea's biggest carrier by sales, signed a contract with Boeing in 2005 to buy 10 of the aircraft for phased delivery until 2019. A third aircraft will arrive in mid-July this year.
The 369-seat dreamliner is built with composite materials and is said to be 20 percent more fuel efficient than the 767 that it is replacing.
