U.S. envoy to U.N. expresses frustration at China

WASHINGTON, July 30 (Yonhap) -- The U.S. ambassador to the United Nations expressed frustration Sunday over what she suggested was a lack of action on China's part to stop North Korea's provocations.

"Done talking about NKorea. China is aware they must act," Amb. Nikki Haley wrote on her Twitter account, two days after North Korea conducted its second test-launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile.

"Japan and SKorea must inc pressure. Not only a US problem. It will req an intl solution," she said.

Washington has been pushing the U.N. Security Council to draw up tougher sanctions against Pyongyang for its first ICBM test on July 4. China and Russia are largely against any sanctions regime.

The council will likely convene an emergency meeting this week to address North Korea's latest provocation.

On Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump openly expressed his frustration at China, saying he is "very disappointed" in the country.

"Our foolish past leaders have allowed them to make hundreds of billions of dollars a year in trade, yet they do NOTHING for us with North Korea, just talk," he tweeted. "We will no longer allow this to continue. China could easily solve this problem!"

China is North Korea's last major ally and a key supplier of food and crude oil to the impoverished nation. While Beijing has denounced Pyongyang's nuclear and missile tests, it has also been reluctant to push the regime too hard out of concern about instability on their border.
