iPhone 8 preorders in S. Korea likely to begin Oct. 27: sources
SEOUL, Oct. 8 (Yonhap) -- Apple's iPhone 8 is expected to go on sale in South Korea in early November with preorders beginning late this month, industry sources said Sunday.
Several telecom industry sources familiar with the matter said the country's three main mobile carriers are likely to begin receiving preorders for iPhone 8 and 8s models on Oct. 27.
They aim to formally release Apple's latest smartphone on Nov. 3 and are also weighing advancing the date by one week, they said.
The entry model is expected to retail at around 1 million won (US$872) including taxes.
South Korea was on the third list of countries for the iPhone 8 release. Industry watchers initially expected a mid-October release, but the schedule has supposedly been delayed due to the 10-day Chuseok fall harvest holiday this year.
Armed with the Apple's new "A11 Bionic," the new iPhone was first released on Sept. 22 in 25 select countries, including the U.S., Japan, China, Australia and Britain.
