N. Korea says Moon actively taking part in provoking Pyongyang
SEOUL, Oct. 22 (Yonhap) -- North Korea's state media said Sunday that South Korea's President Moon Jae-in has been actively collaborating with the United States to provoke Pyongyang while outwardly claiming that he opposes a war.
The remark by the Rodong Sinmun, the main newspaper of the reclusive country, came as Moon was known to have said Seoul should support Washington's pressure on Pyongyang after the U.S. carried out surprise nighttime exercises near the Korean Peninsula earlier this month.
"It could further raise tensions, but we need to support the U.S. move to put pressure on North Korea," the president was cited by a group of lawmakers as saying during a meeting on Oct. 11. The ruling and opposition party lawmakers had recently visited the U.S.
Tensions have been rising after the North defiantly conducted its sixth and most powerful nuclear test last month, drawing strong condemnation from the international community.
