Asiana Airlines picked as top carrier in China
SEOUL, Nov. 19 (Yonhap) -- Asiana Airlines Inc., South Korea's second-largest airline by sales, said Sunday that it was named as the top passenger carrier by a Chinese travel website.
Alitrip, a travel platform under giant Chinese e-commerce company Alibaba, awarded Asian Airlines the best airline title for this year following its Singles' Day shopping festival.
Singles' Day, celebrated Nov. 11 every year, has become the day when Chinese people go on shopping sprees to take advantage of 24-hour online sales.
Alitrip considered one of the top three Chinese travel websites, along with Ctrip and Qunar, picks the best airlines every year following the holiday.
"Asiana focused on making partnerships with huge travel platforms, such as Alitrip, to deal with the growth of the Chinese online travel market despite the frosty South Korea-China relations," said Ahn Byeong-seok, an official at Asiana Airlines.
