Trump: N. Korea seeks capability to kill millions of Americans
WASHINGTON, Dec. 18 (Yonhap) -- U.S. President Donald Trump said Monday that North Korea is developing weapons to kill millions of Americans as he unveiled his new national security strategy.
In a 68-page booklet, Trump outlined his administration's priorities in protecting the homeland, promoting American prosperity, preserving peace through strength and advancing American influence.
"North Korea seeks the capability to kill millions of Americans with nuclear weapons," he said. "North Korea is also pursuing chemical and biological weapons which could also be delivered by missile."
The U.S. is deployed a layered missile defense system with a focus on North Korea and Iran to defend the homeland from missile attacks, he said. That system includes the ability to defeat missile threats prior to launch.
