4 S. Koreans injured in fire at Russian guesthouse: foreign ministry
SEOUL, Jan. 28 (Yonhap) -- Four South Koreans were injured in a deadly fire that broke out at a tourist facility on Russia's Olkhon Island, Seoul's foreign ministry said Sunday.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said eight South Koreans were staying at a guesthouse on Olkhon Island in Lake Baikal and four of them were injured in a fire. The other four evacuated to a nearby lodging facility, it added.
Earlier, Russian media reported that the fire killed two and injured five. There were reportedly 34 people at the guest house at the time of the fire.
The ministry said two South Koreans suffered fractures to feet and back, but their injuries are not life threatening. The other two had minor abrasions, it added.
The two seriously injured South Koreans were transferred to a hospital in the city of Irkutsk via a medical helicopter and are receiving treatments, according to the ministry.
It said officials from the South Korean consulate in Irkutsk are supporting the injured South Koreans and people who are still on the island.
