China's envoy met with N. Korean delegation during Olympic visit: Beijing
BEIJING, Feb. 12 (Yonhap) -- A high-ranking Chinese official met with Kim Yong-nam, the president of the Presidium of the North Korean assembly, during their visits to South Korea last week, China's foreign ministry confirmed Monday.
"Han Zheng, a member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China, met with the head of the North Korean delegation and had exchanges during his visit to attend the PyeongChang Olympic Games as a special envoy of President Xi Jinping," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said in a press briefing.
The two officials visited South Korea last week to attend the opening ceremony of the Olympics on Friday. Kim led a three-member high-ranking North Korean delegation, which included North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's sister Yo-jong.
Topics of the China-North Korea discussion, however, were not disclosed by the foreign ministry.
