S. Korea to launch flight service to Croatia

SEOUL, Feb. 12 (Yonhap) -- South Korea said Monday it will allow a local flag carrier to operate flight services to Croatia five times a week.

There will be more passenger jets shuttling between South Korea and the Philippines as well, according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

It announced the results of its annual allocation of the rights to run new international flight routes for local airlines.

Korean Air, the nation's largest flag carrier, has been granted permission to operate passenger-cargo flight services in addition to two additional flights to New Delhi and Russia per week.

JejuAir, a budget carrier, will be able to carry up to 570 passengers per week on the Muan-Manila route. Muan, a county in South Jeolla Province, has an international airport.

Eastar Jet, another low-cost airline, will operate a flight service between Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, and Manila as well as Cheongju and Shanghai.
