All News 23:56 February 23, 2018

WASHINGTON, Feb. 23 (Yonhap) -- U.S. President Donald Trump plans to announce the "largest ever" sanctions on North Korea Friday, ratcheting up pressure on the regime to give up its nuclear weapons program.

The announcement will come at a speech later in the day, according to excerpts released by White House.

"Today I am announcing that we are launching the largest ever set of new sanctions on the North Korean regime," Trump plans to say. "The Treasury Department will soon be taking new action to further cut off sources of revenue and fuel that the regime uses to fund its nuclear program and sustain its military by targeting 56 vessels, shipping companies, and trade businesses that are assisting North Korea in evading sanctions."
