All News 13:51 April 13, 2018

SEOUL, April 13 (Yonhap) -- Naver Corp., South Korea's dominant Internet portal and search engine, said Friday that it has rolled out the mobile version of its latest web browser.

The PC version of "Whale" initially debuted in October 2017. The browser features omnitasking -- a split-screen function that allows users to browse two websites in the same tab.

Naver said it has rolled out the Android version of Whale, although the launch schedule for the iOS version has not yet been decided.

"We focused on creating a user-friendly mobile browser based on feedback and new technologies," said Kim Hyo, a Naver official.

The new browser, based on Google Inc.'s Chrome, presents an alternative to Internet Explorer. It is also linked to the company's translation service Papago.
