SEOUL, April 23 (Yonhap) -- A senior U.S. diplomat said on Monday that she hopes North Korea is sincere about giving up its nuclear weapons, adding that Pyongyang's real intention is yet to be confirmed.
"I hope they are very sincere but we are gonna see," Susan Thornton, acting U.S. assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, told reporters.
She made the remarks before heading to meet South Korean officials, including Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha. She arrived in South Korea on Sunday for a three-day trip.
