SK Biopharmaceuticals, SK C&C team up to use AI for drug development
SEOUL, April 25 (Yonhap) -- SK C&C Co. and SK Biopharmaceuticals Co., both affiliates of SK Group, said Wednesday they have joined forces to work on a drug development platform based on artificial intelligence (AI).
Under the agreement, the two companies will utilize an AI-supported "Drug Design" platform to search for possible candidate substances for new drugs.
The AI platform will collect various specifications of each substance and use big data to predict the interactions between them.
SK C&C said it will first build a substance data center called the Chemical Repository based on the data collected by SK Biopharmaceuticals over the past 20 years.
The companies said using big data is expected to reduce the time it takes to develop and introduce new and improved drugs by shortening the process of verifying efficacy in every single case.
