S. Korea, Vietnam agree to improve bilateral ties
SEOUL, June 15 (Yonhap) -- South Korean Vice Foreign Minister Lim Sung-nam had talks Friday with a senior Vietnamese communist party official on strengthening relations between the two countries, Lim's ministry said.
In a meeting with Tran Dac Loi, vice chairman of the Communist Party External Relations Commission, in Seoul, Lim expressed hope that the two sides will continue to develop bilateral ties forged in 1992.
He cited the Moon Jae-in administration's efforts to elevate Seoul's relationship with the Southeast Asian block to a new level.
He and Loi agreed to the importance of faithfully implementing summit deals produced during Moon's visit to Vietnam in March.
Lim also briefed him in detail on the government's efforts for the denuclearization of the peninsula and peace and requested Vietnam's unswerving support.
In response, the vice ministerial Vietnamese official hailed the inter-Korean and U.S.-North Korea summit talks and appreciated South Korea's initiative to bring lasting peace to the region, according to the ministry.
