WASHINGTON, June 15 (Yonhap) -- U.S. President Donald Trump released a weekly address Friday promoting his efforts to bring peace to the world through his meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un earlier in the week.

In a 3-minute video posted on YouTube, Trump walked through the results of his historic meeting with Kim that took place in Singapore Tuesday.

"Our world has seen more than enough conflict. If there's a chance at peace, if there's a chance to end the horrible threat of nuclear conflict, then we must pursue it at all costs," he said, adding that the people of America, Korea, and the world "deserve a future of security and of peace."

He said the summit was an "incredible event" that was "worth every second."

People in Asia and around the world "feel much safer" now as a result of the meeting, he claimed.

The two leaders met for several hours at the Capella resort on Singapore's Sentosa Island and signed a joint statement calling for the "complete denuclearization" of the Korean Peninsula.

In return, Trump pledged to provide "security guarantees" to the regime.

Trump said in the video message that sanctions on North Korea will remain in place while denuclearization is under way.
