SEOUL, July 16 (Yonhap) -- North Korea's media outlets on Monday dismissed the latest allegations of secret uranium enrichment facility in the North as groundless and asked the U.S. administration not to pay attention to any false rumor started by those opposed to the North-U.S. dialogue.

Pyongyang's external propaganda website Meari (echo) said that U.S. intelligence organs and media have recently raised speculation about North Korea expanding its nuclear and missile facilities in violation of its commitment to complete denuclearization.

"The problem is that the incumbent U.S. administration is aware of the groundlessness and malicious nature of those suspicions on the DPRK's nuclear program but is trying to use them to put pressure on our republic," Meari said in a commentary. DPRK stands for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, North Korea's formal name.

The Tongil Sinbo, the North's external propaganda weekly, argued on Sunday that Pyongyang remains strongly committed to the agreements reached at the North-U.S. summit talks in Singapore last month.

"The task of the moment is to respect each other and build up mutual trust. If the American administration is swayed by anti-peace and anti-dialogue forces in dealing with the DPRK, good outcomes can hardly be expected," the weekly said.

Those reports came amid growing suspicions in Washington about North Korea's commitment to denuclearization after recent reports about a covert uranium enrichment facility in Kangson near Pyongyang and expansion of a missile manufacturing facility in Hamhung in the North's northeastern region.
