Samsung Engineering wins US$472.99 bln plant order in UAE
SEOUL, Sept. 4 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Engineering Co. said Tuesday it has received an order worth 526.58 billion won (US$472.99 million) to build power-generating and desalination facilities in the United Arab Emirates by mid-2023.
The order placed by Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company calls for the building of a 230-megawatt power plant using waste heat from existing facilities operated by the UAE company, the company said in a statement. The South Korean company will also build a desalination plant that can produce 2,600 cubic meters of fresh water per hour from sea water.
The Korean engineering firm will fulfill the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the facilities by June 23 of the target year as part of a lump-sum turnkey contract, the company said.
Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Co. is an affiliate of UAE's state-run oil firm Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).
