Trump says N. Korea situation 'coming along very well'

WASHINGTON, Oct. 15 (Yonhap) -- U.S. President Donald Trump said Monday that the situation with North Korea is "coming along very well" and he expects "good things" to happen in the future.

Speaking to reporters before heading to hurricane-hit Florida, Trump touted the progress his administration has made on North Korea's nuclear weapons program.

"North Korea is coming along very well. Relationships are very good," he said at the White House. "I think a lot of good things will happen."

Trump has said he plans to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-un for a second summit after the U.S. midterm elections on Nov. 6.

At their first summit in Singapore in June, Kim committed to work toward "complete" denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula in exchange for security guarantees from the U.S.

"It's complicated," Trump said. "You know, we've done things in three or four months that nobody has done in 70 years. But I think North Korea is coming along very well."
