Consortium involving Samsung Engineering wins $4 bln refinery project in Thailand
SEOUL, Oct. 21 (Yonhap) -- A consortium involving Samsung Engineering Co. has won an order worth about US$4 billion from Thai Oil PCL to upgrade a plant belonging to the Thai oil refiner, the South Korean firm said Sunday.
The project will renovate Thai Oil's refinery in Sriracha, Chonburi, on the east coast of Thailand, boosting production of clean fuel, Samsung Engineering said.
The four-year project also aims to increase the refinery's production capacity to 400,000 barrels per day from 275,000 barrels per day, Samsung Engineering said.
Samsung Engineering said its share in the project is about 1.2 trillion won ($1 billion).
